The protection of personal data (name, address, e-mail etc.) is an extremely important concern to the German Toilet Organization e. V. (GTO). Everyone has the right to know what happens to their own data. The GTO therefore informs all visitors of the website and social media profiles about the type, scope as well as the purpose of the processing of personal data.

The GTO is a non-profit organization registered according to German charity law and regulations (entry no. 25207 B in the register of societies at the district court Charlottenburg), represented by the executive board: Dr. Reinhard Marth, Dr. Kilian Langenbach, Barbara Wagner.

b) Data Processing
The GTO processes personal data in compliance with the relevant data protection regulations, in particular the DSGVO and the BDSG. Data processing by the GTO is only taking place on the basis of legal permission. When using this website, the GTO will process personal data only with your consent (Art. 6 para. 1 letter a) DSGVO), to fulfil a contract to which you are a party, or at your request to carry out pre-contractual measures (Art. 6 para. 1 letter b) DSGVO), to fulfil a legal obligation (Art. 6 para. 1 letter c) DSGVO), or if the processing is necessary to safeguard your rightful interests or the rightful interests of a third party, unless your interests or fundamental rights and freedoms, which require the protection of personal data, prevail (Art. 6 para. 1 sentence f) DSGVO). The GTO does not sell data to third parties. Consents to the collection or use of data may be revoked at any time coming into effect in the future.

c) Duration of Storing
Unless resulting otherwise from the following notices, GTO will only store the data for as long as necessary for achieving the purpose of processing or to fulfil contractual or legal obligations. Such legal storage obligations may arise in particular from commercial or tax law regulations.

d) Technical Service Providers
Unless resulting otherwise from the following notices, the data will be processed on the servers of technical service providers commissioned by GTO for this purpose. These service providers process the data only in accordance with explicit instructions and are contractually obliged to guarantee adequate technical and organisational measures for data protection.

This website is hosted by Mittwald CM Service GmbH und Co.KG, Königsberger Straße 4-6 32339 Espelkamp (hoster). For information on Mittwald’s data protection visit https://www.mittwald.de/datenschutz. Personal data collected on this website is stored on the host's servers. This may include IP addresses, contact requests, meta and communication data, contract data, contact data, names, website accesses and other data generated via a website. The host is used for the purpose of fulfilling the contract with our potential and existing customers (Art. 6 para. 1 lit. b DSGVO) and in the interest of a secure, fast and efficient provision of our online offer by a professional provider (Art. 6 para. 1 lit. f DSGVO).

Registration, Team Building and Entry Upload Forms

By registering for the competition, personal data will be collected. By entering the competition, you agree that the GTO may store your data for the duration of the competition and 5 years beyond. GTO will use your details to process your registration, team details and proposal entry or to send you specific information about the competition. GTO will not sell the data to third parties. You can revoke your consent to data collection or data use for the future at any time. 

GTO uses different services and tools to store your data. All data you provide when registered for the competition are stored by our host Mittwald. In the course of the competition GTO will transfer all data of all competitors to its cloud services for the evaluation of the submissions. GTO works with Dropbox and OneDrive from Microsoft 365 for storing and processing your data.

During the evaluation process the information you provided may also be shared with all necessary implementing partners. We cannot take responsibility on how every partner saves and processes these data sets.

We would like to point out that data transmission on the Internet (e.g. communication by e-mail) can have security gaps. Complete protection of data against access by third parties is not possible.

Cookies used on this website

The GTO uses cookies on this website. Cookies are small text files that are stored by your browser when you visit a website. This marks the used browser which can then be recognised by the GTO web server. If this use of cookies results in the processing of personal data, this happens on the legal basis of Art. 6 Para. 1 Letter f) DSGVO. This processing serves the legitimate interest of the GTO in making its website more user-friendly, effective and secure.
The GTO uses so-called "session cookies", which are deleted when the browser session is closed. Please make sure that you always log out of your account after using publicly accessible devices.

Use of the contact form

The personal data collected when filling out the contact form (e.g. name and e-mail) are stored and used exclusively for the purpose of answering your request or for contacting you and the associated technical administration. The provision of the data is necessary for the processing and answering of your enquiry - without their provision we cannot answer your enquiry or at best only to a limited extent. The legal basis for processing this data is a legitimate interest in responding to your request in accordance with Art. 6 Para. 1 lit. f DSGVO. The data collected via the contact form is regularly deleted, when it is no longer required for further processing or when there are no legal obligations to retain the data.

 Your rights

As a data subject, you have the right to assert your data subject rights against the GTO. You have the following right in particular:

  • Pursuant to Art. 15 DSGVO and § 34 BDSG, you have the right to request information as to whether or not and, if so, to what extent we process personal data related to you.
  • You have the right to demand that we correct your data in accordance with Art. 16 DSGVO.
  • You have the right to demand that we delete your personal data in accordance with Art. 17 DSGVO and § 35 BDSG.
  • You have the right to have the processing of your personal data restricted in accordance with Art. 18 DSGVO.
  • You have the right, in accordance with Art. 20 DSGVO, to receive the personal data concerning you which and which you have provided to us in a structured, common and machine-readable format and to forward this data to another person responsible.
  • If you have given us an individual consent for data processing, you can revoke this consent at any time in accordance with Art. 7 para. 3 DSGVO.
  • Such a revocation does not affect the legality of the processing, which has taken place until the revocation on the basis of the consent.

If you think that the processing of your personal data violates the legal provisions of the DSGVO, you have the right to file a complaint with a supervisory authority in accordance with Art. 77 DSGVO

Data protection officer

The GTO provides information on stored data free of charge in accordance with the statutory provisions. The data protection officer answers all inquiries regarding the collection, processing or use of personal data. In addition to the right to information, you have the right to have data corrected, blocked or deleted and to revoke any given consent given for the future in accordance with the statutory provisions.
